Over 20% are uninsured. We are also excited by new data emerging about the LGBTQ community. Where we had previously thought that the WNC LGBTQ community numbered roughly 40,000, latest estimates put this figure closer to 62,000. That’s a small city! The vast majority we have spoken to are excited by the notion of working together to build a community that is truly welcoming, equitable, and inclusive. We are so excited by the advent of the new year. During the past few months, we have been reaching out informally to constituents across the region – to LGBTQ groups, community services, businesses, government agencies, educators, and faith leaders.
